Surprised to see that there is no bridge mode option in R7900/R8000 admin settings. The only feature that's available is the Wireless AP mode. Is this correct? Am I missing something? Even on the R7000, there is an option under Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings to convert one of the radios to connect to another router (Use other operation mode > Setup Bridge Mode Wireless Settings). Is there any reason why this would be disabled on the R8000/R7900? Is there a firmware version that still has this feature enabled that I can revert to? I have the R7900 variant, and my current firmware is 1.0.1.4. To clarify, I'm not talking about bridging an IPTV to the Internet or using the R8000/R7900 as an AP. I'm talking about getting the R8000/R7900 to wirelessly bridge with another wifi router.Solved64KViews0likes22CommentsR8500 Readyshare USB Printer PC & MAC
Neither PC nor MAC will locate my Printer. ( New Brother printer that works perfect ethernet connected) I did have my Brother 6920 working on Airprint ( dlink & Netgear r8000 ) it's Always worked connected and even shared with the server whatever it has installed in itself ( expensive printer.. paid WAY more than I should of ) I saw where Netgear ( & apple ? ) hasn't created something to make it work. My PC wont find it EITHER !!! I saw where the R7000 needed Bonjour to work with printers. --- My thinking.. the R8500 Readyshare makes me download a Netgear program that can not find the printer unless Bonjour is Running.. ODD ODD ODD ODD .. If I'm downloading a Netgear program... Why the HECK didn't Netgear make it work it'self ?? .. SO... What's the story ? I bought this EXPENSIVE ROUTER thinking I could have Blazing Fast & Easier USB Printing.. ( even paid $65 for a damn 40ft usb printer cable ) . ALSO.. what's your FASTEST Printing ?? USB / Readyshare / Ethernet / WiFi 2.4 / IP address ??Solved5.8KViews0likes4CommentsCan't access genie. Stuck in Bridged mode?
Backround: My Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 has been nothing but problems since I bought it. Constantly rebooting itself, kicking me out of games, off of Netflix, etc. I am running it with a Netgear DOCSIS 3.0 High Speed Modem. I bought my parents the same combo for Christmas, and they have the same issues as far as disconnecting and rebooting goes. What I did: Put my router in bridged mode. At the time, I was told it would give me the speeds im paying for, as well as stopping my internet from cutting out. Instead, I now cannot connect any device wirelessly to my router, and I cannot acces the genie page to switch it back from bridged mode to AP mode. I have reset the router multiple times. I've unplugged it, as well as held the reset button on the router while unplugging/plugging in. I have tried typing in routerlogin.net, 192.168.1.1, and my actual IP using ipconfig /all. I have not been able to connect any other devices wirelessly, get to the genie page, or see my 5g wireless network on any device. Only the 2.4g network shows, and is only connectable through an ethernet cord. What I need help with: Getting it out of bridged mode (if its even still in it) and possibly get help as to configure it correctly. The router cuts out daily, primairly when I connect a device to it. I feel it may also block certain games I play. Perhaps due to a strict NAT or unforwarded ports. Buying such a top-end router and modem, I assume problem solving and troubleshooting would have been a breeze. Alas, here I am.Solved35KViews0likes2CommentsNighthawk X6 R8000 web browser indicates no internet

My wife and both play LOTRO and it seems that there is a requirement for port forwarding. The question that I have revolves around the fact that there are 2 computers involved. Is it possible to forward the same ports to 2 pcs? If not what about port triggering to do what I need to do. I need to forward ports 9000 - 9100. If in fact port triggering is the way to go I think I understand how to do the first one using port 9000 as the triggering port, but what about the second computer? Do I use the exact same thing or something different? We do both play at the same time most of the time? Thanks in advance for any help or insight that you can provide. Hope you have a SUPER Day!!!Solved10KViews0likes11CommentsStatus of IPv6 Firewall configuration on R7000
Hi there. I have been looking through some old and semirecent threads about the ability to configure the IPv6 firewall in the R7000. Unfortunatly my router is way passed the support-life so I doubt I can open a case with the question so I figured I'd try and see if there is any new information to be had here? I tried using a 3d-party firmware but due a severe lack in performance when running on 3d-party firmware I can't really use that. Any Rep reading this forum that can give any information about the state of this? Is it available somehow? Or is it a planned feature in a not do distant future? // MattiasSolved9.2KViews0likes13CommentsHow do I deploy a VPN to my home network?
Good Morning Netgear Community I am setting up a VPN for the first time on my home network. I have a question about deploying the VPN service to other devices on my network. Can I setup Open VPN on just the router? I was hoping I didn't have to install / setup on each one of my devices (laptop pc etc)Solved4.6KViews0likes4CommentsR7000 Readyshare stops working
Hello, I've been using the r7000 for a month now as an ACCESS POINT. For the most part, it works well. I have an issue where the admin interface becomes inaccessible via routerlogin.net and IP address - but that's a different story and may be caused by my ISPs modem/router(?). The real problem is that I retired my old Windows desktop which was being used as a DLNA server (via Universal Media Server) and a 2-bay harddrive. I plugged that HD into the r7000 and all looks good (usb 2). When I start accessing the drive, transferring files to it or watching a movie via DLNA device it eventually stops working. The wifi itself doesn't stop though - other devices connected to it still have internet access. Perhaps these two separate issues are related? I think this because they both work for a little while and then stop - within an hour. I have the r7000 setup with a DHCP reservation at 192.168.0.2, ethernet plugged into the WAN port. The ISP router/gateway is 192.168.0.1. Firmware Version V1.0.4.30_1.1.67 Thanks in advance, HarvinderSolved4.4KViews0likes6Comments
