I have an R7960P, and I need to examine logs of outbound traffic. Unfortunately, the logs on Advanced->Administration->Logs only show inbound traffic attempts. (Mostly just "Internet Background Radiation" hack attempts which the router blocks.) Is there a way to get logs of outbound traffic? I have some ancient devices that communicate with an unknown server, and I need to see where they're trying to connect to.Solved962Views0likes2CommentsNighthawk X8 AC5000 replacement
I currently have a Netgear Nighthawk X8 AC5000 running in Bridge Mode. The unit is starting to fail and I would like to purchase a replacement. Other than searching through the spec sheets of every router, is there a list of available models that are capable of running in Bridge Mode? I emailed Sales, but have yet to receive any response.2.1KViews0likes14CommentsNighthawk (R6700v2) setting to limit bandwidth on individual devices?
Hello; for my model described, is there a setting where I can limit the monthly download (say, 200GB) on a specific connected device? I looked through the settings and can’t find anything. The reason I’m even interested in doing this is because Xfinity states I went over my monthly limit, which I’ve never done before, so trying to narrow down which device is the culprit… Thanks!734Views0likes2CommentsR800 Plex Remote Access not available outside of network
Hello, I'm having issues with my Plex server on my Nighthawk X6 R8000. It was setup and located in another place and had remote access. But when I brought it home and connected it to my Nighthawk X6 R8000, I lost remote access. My firmware is V1.0.4.84_10.1.84. I saw another post relating to 2019 when in version 1.0.4.46 the Upnp was broken and to roll back to Version-1-0-4-28 would restored the functionality. I don't know if it was fixed after version 1.0.4.46. I can see it in V1.0.4.84_10.1.84 but don't know if it's working. I'm just trying to figure this out and any help is appreciated. Hello I have Nighthawk R7000 running firmware V1.0.11.136_10.2.120 and I was wanting to run a vpn. I followed the instructions about how to turn on the vpn service and installing openvpn. When I try to run openvpn I get this error in the log: 2023-11-10 14:19:55 us=703000 MANAGEMENT: Client disconnected 2023-11-10 14:19:55 us=703000 Cannot load certificate file client.crt 2023-11-10 14:19:55 us=703000 Exiting due to fatal error Now searching here I found that this was a previous issue that was fixed in version 1.0.9.30 but that was back in 2018. Is there any solution now for the latest firmware? thanks8.3KViews0likes19CommentsSetting up login credentials for OPEN VPN
Hello, I have a Nighthawk R7000 rooter with a default OS (which I can't change). I have for several years activated the vpn service with open vpn which works very well. However, I'd like to increase security to connect to my rooter (and therefore to the connected nas server): set up a login and password connection. Is there a (simple) solution for this type of connection via open vpn? Is it possible to give rights to certain identifiers or remove them? I'd like to stop distributing the identification key, but to grant connection rights. Thank you in advance for your reply. Hi, I upgraded the firmware and thought nothing of it. A few weeks later I tried to login from a computer hardwired connected to the router and received first an ad for the Nighthawk App, and a link to use if you did not want to use the app. I followed the link and received a 400 error Bad Request. I then tried to use the app and it didn’t accept my password. I have tried 3 different browsers from the hardwired computer, all giving the same 400 error. Any suggestions?687Views0likes1CommentCan my r7800 force all DNS traffic to use my Pi-Hole?
I have two Pi-Holes set up and while they work, I’m under the impression that some services and devices will fallback to hardcoded dns if they detect content filtering. I have seen references to router settings which can be implemented to route any other dns inquiries back through the pi-hole, but am having trouble doing this with my r7800. Has anyone done this?983Views0likes2Comments
