Hello, I enabled VPN on router RAX45 and installed the openVPN client and VPN configuration files on my laptop. Per instruction, I need to change the VPN interface name to NETGEAR-VPN on the network setting for TAP-Windows Adapter V9. However, when I clicked the "rename" item for the network, the pulldown window disappeared and nothing happened. What can I do and how to change the name of the VPN interface? Thanks in advance.Solved2.2KViews0likes12CommentsNetGear R6700v3 Slow speed: Update
This post is in regards to another one that seems to have been closed. It was titled "NetGear R6700v3 Slow speed". Anyways, I was having the same issues with my hardwired LAN speed being throttled to 250Mbps after updating to the latest firmware. I tried everything that was recommended, such as resetting the router several times. I saw that some people also were unable to get their speeds back. I accidently found out a possible solution (it worked for me at least). I had two of the same router R6700v3 models with the same firmware (V1.0.5.128_10.0.104), which is currently the latest version. I also have two of the same internet lines going into to each router separately. One of my routers was able to provide 300Mbps+ on wireless to my PC. When switching to the second router via hardwire (and disconnected from the first router), I was capping at 250Mbps. I checked each router's settings page by page and setting by setting. All were identical except for IP address and such. The solution was to connect a second PC to the same router via WiFi. I don't know if this was a coincidence but after I did that I was getting the full 500Mbps of my internet service via hardwire. It seems there is a bug in the Netgear router firmware. I hope this helps others. If it does, please reply with results. Good luck!522Views0likes0CommentsNighthawk R760P VPN Connects, but I can't connect to local PCs
Hello, I have a Nighthawk R760P. My goal is to be able to remotely connect to a Windows shared folder from my Android phone and/or from my MacBook Pro when I am not on my home network, and also to be able to connect via Remote Desktop. I can do all of the above when all devices are connected, locally, to the Nighthawk router, but it is not working when connecting remotely through OpenVPN. To be clear, I can successfully connect to the router with OpenVPN, but oncr that connection is established, I cannot connect to the Windows shared folder or even ping the IP address of the PC with the shared folder. One thing I noticed that struck me as odd is that when I connect with OpenVPN, I'm assigned the IP 192.168.254.2, but my home network is 192.168.1.1 and locally connected devices are 192.168.1.X. Is that a problem? I don't understand how a .254. IP can communicate with a .1. IP. The "Use a VPN Tunnel on Your Windows Comouter" section of the manual seems to indicate that different IP ranges are actually necessary, but I'm not sure that applies to my scenario. When I enabled the VPN service in Advaced Setup, I left the default settings (UDP/12973, UDP/12974). I have also tried the "All sites on the internet & Home Network" as well as the "Home Network only" options. Neither has worked. I currently have "Home Network only" set. Hoping someone can help me get this working. Thank you!966Views0likes10CommentsT-Mobile TMHI gateway + R6700 router
New TMO-G4SE internet gateway installed 6 days ago (1/3), everything worked out of the box. I disconnected the ethernet cable from my Cox modem (to my Netgear R6700 router), and connected it to the LAN port on the T-Mobile gateway. All my existing APs and SSIDs stayed the same - that's were most of the smart home devices are connected. It was seamless. Can't remember if I rebooted the router or not. Yesterday morning (1/9) I woke up to find all the old Wi-Fi SSIDs were still on, but nothing connected to them was getting internet (waiting for an IP address...). Every night the Netgear gets power cycled using a timer switch so that it will reboot, so I presume the reboot on night 6 is when they lost internet. Interestingly, ethernet connections to the Netgear kept working. T-Mobile tech support were no help. "your third-party equipment might be incompatible, we can sell you a new mesh wi-fi, call Netgear...) 2 x hard resets on the TMO gateway , plus untold number of reboots of the router, brought everything back. I can't find a solution in the usual places, reddit, youtube, etc., I'm guessing I need to change something in the Netgear router? Change the router to AP or bridge mode? There's nothing to change in the TMO gateway, all you can do is disable the wifi. What can I look for in the router the next time this happens to the wifi? Thanks in advance.Solved2KViews0likes8CommentsHaving trouble with my Nighthawk Router R6900P
Having some trouble getting my devices to connect for the internet while I'm on the network. I've reset the router, let it boot, all the bells and whistles I can think of. Every time, the lights are white and not amber hunting that it's connected to the internet. However, when my family goes to our devices, nothing loads despite being connected to the network. If anyone has tip I would love to hear them!!how to access only the 4.2 Ghz to connect a robot on 2016 nighthawk x6 AC 3000 router?
My Nighthawk X6 AC 3000 router has triband wifi. I want to bypass the 5 Ghz and connect my new Roborock mop/vac to the 2.4 Ghz band; but keep getting a "can not connect" message. How do I physically designate the 2.4 Ghz on my router? I am a complete newby to all this. Thx1.2KViews0likes7CommentsPC Looses Network Connection
I have a Dell Precision 3460 PC (Intel 1219-LM, WIN 11Pro) which for about 10 days now seems to loose it LAN connection after 15-30 minutes. I stuck in an ASUS Wireless adapter, which works better, but will fail in about a day. When they fail, the PCs network functions seem to get corrupt (ie Network Connections => Enable\Disable and others changes hang and need to be shut down with Task Manager). It's a new PC and Dell was unable to diagnose it and replaced the motherboard, so it's not hardware, and I have assumed it to be the PCs network config. Yesterday I took it from the clients location to my shop, and now it seems to work with no issues. On site it's connected to a Netgear R7800 on FW V1.0.2.90. It has a static IP set as 10.1.10.100, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and gateway of 10.1.10.1. The sole DNS is set at 10.1.10.1. I also have the devices IP set as Reserved in the LAN Setup. The only router testing I did was to change ports, and the fault followed the device. I DNR if we tried just the reservations with no static IPs. In my shop, I have "another" brand of router and ran it overnight on DHCP, then assigned it a static IP in my routers range (192.168.50.211) and can not get the PC to crash. All other PCs seem to work fine, including the old Precision this replaced with nearly identical network config Until now I have pretty much been convinced this is the PC, but now thinking that for some reason these 2 just do not like each other. Any thoughts?1.4KViews0likes9CommentsAC2300 WiFi Router (R7000P)
Hello, I have a Netgear Nighthawk AX2.300 smart Wi-Fi router, Model R7000P. I am trying to change the device name on an Xbox One, of which we have three on the Wi-Fi. I see where I can edit the device name and model, but it won't let me. I keep getting an error message. One message says error (symbol), but I am not using a symbol, just letters. Do you have any idea how to get it to apply? Thanks!688Views0likes1CommentUSB Hard Drive Randomly Disappearing on r7600
Hello, I've attached an external HDD to the USB port of my router to use as a Nas. For some reason, it randomly disappears from the router (can't see it in router admin page.) Even when I reboot the hard drive and the router, sometimes it won't come back or it takes forever to find it. I've attached the drive to a computer and it works just fine. There are three partitions, all under 3 TB. Any ideas? Thanks, Josh584Views0likes1Comment
