With the unceremonious 86'ing of the ReadyNAS line, I was looking for ways to get more life out of my RN626 and RN314. Turns out they make excellent backup/clone storage for unRAID servers. After fully factory resetting and wiping my RN626, I installed the rsync server Docker app on my unRAID system. From there, it was just a matter of straightforward configuration and entering the pertinent settings (e.g., username, SSH key) on both systems. It's all so straightforward that it doesn't even really need a step-by-step. I think the most technical element was exporting the ReadyNAS' SSH key and copy-pasting it into the Docker config. I've since configured my ReadyNAS to boot up at specified times via its GUI (very useful functionality that unRAID lacks out of the box). It then clones the unRAID on a per-share basis with its built-in rsync capabilities and then shuts down automatically after a certain time has elapsed. Because the ReadyNAS is now a one-trick pony that only spins up for a few hours per week, I don't feel the same urgency around updating its outdated OS. And I have a full, set-it-and-forget-it, daily onsite clone of my unRAID system should the worst happen. I don't doubt that this use case has already occurred to many folks, but I wanted to share it in case it hadn't. It's been a great way to extend the useful life of my ReadyNAS.837Views0likes2CommentsEDA500 gone, now all shares on main NAS don't appear
I had two EDA500s connected to my 316. They both messed up, at the same time resulting in data loss. Now......... in Windows Explorer, I have always seen the old shares names appear in the list. Today I tried to delete the EDA500 and the result was: No shares except for one now shows up in Windows Explorer. Even ones on the main NAS that are folders in /data. There are about 5 shares in /data/ that SHOULD be appearing. If I do ls on /data, they are there. In the UI, there are no shares at all whatsoever. So I am guessing something is out of whack with the smb config. What can I do to f ix this?684Views0likes1CommentREADYNAS 212 : QBitto##ent not getting installed

Hi everyone, in march 2023 I bought the new Mac Book Pro 14" M2 with OS Ventura installed. For the first month everything worked fine with my ReadyNas 104. It was reachable both from browser and as a network share. I suppose that last update to 13.4.1 has changed something. As an absurd fact I can reach it remotely, but not on local network, it says that my Mac is not on the same LAN, but that's not true. Any other device (iPhones iPads, Samsung Tv, other Macs) still works fine with NAS Thanks for answering Pale774.5KViews0likes16CommentsAlternative to stopped ReadyCloud-Service?
I just learned that Netgear has abondend the ReadyCloud-Service. I used ReadyCloud to access my NAS from my mobile to upload photos & videos. Is there any alternative solution out to do the same without ReadyCloud? What can I do and how? Hi all, I had disk #1 failed another day and managed to resync the array with a spare disk but unfortunately the shares have disappeared, they won't show in admin web gui. I Need Help... I am stuck. I have the ReadyNAS 3138 set up and running as a backup and replication device, and that works fine; however, I want to allow now my AD users to connect to a couple of the shares as I will be removing the physical server that they are currently using (long story). The problem is that I cannot do that without adding their IP address to the Network Access, Hosts setting, even though AD sync is working. Any Ideas? My (ancient) ReadyNAS Duo RND2000v2 have been working flawless for years, but all of a sudden it stopped working: It's no longer possible to access, neither from Windows. It doesn't even open the web interface. Strangely responds to PING, so its obviously not entirely broken. Yes, I've double-checked that the CIFSv1 support is still enabled in my Windows 10 Home 21H1 build19043.2006 Experience Pack 120.2212.4180.0, rebooted my computer, rebooted the NAS etc. I know the firmware installed in the NAS was the last one released by Neatgear before the model was discontinued. I've caught some Wireshark traces (attached), showing the NAS seemingly rejecting connection attempts on HTTP, HTTPS and file share ports. Any ideas? Can I factory reset it somehow without loosing the content of the discs? Or can I transfer the discs to a new(er) NAS? Is it even possible to buy a Netgear NAS anymore? Readout the content of the discs on a Linux box?Solved3.8KViews0likes8CommentsShares Not Connecting on Some Windows 10 PCs at Startup
We have had two Windows 7 PC's and one Windows 10 PC connecting to our NAS for a few years now. Never an issue. Recently, I upgraded the Windows 7 PC's to Windows 10 via a software download from Microsoft that appreared to go fine., once enabled SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support in "Turn Windows Features On or Off" The problem is that whenever a user turns off their PC and then turns it back on, the PC cannot see any of the shares on the NAS. If they then Restart the PC without turning it off, usually the Shares come back up and work fine until they turn of the PC again. Sometimes they have to restart 2-3 times before the shares work. The PC that was always Windows 10 works fine at all times. Note, they can see the ReadNAS on the network; it's the shares that are inaccessible. We map drives to these shares, and they have a red x on them. However, even shares that are accessed directly don't seem to work. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks. -John979Views0likes1CommentMoves on new NAS much slower than old NAS
Greetings, I recently had a power supply failure on my old OS4 ReadyNAS Pro Pioneer RNDP600E and migrated my data to a ReadyNAS 626X RN626X00. It is connected to my Windows 10 computer via 10GbE as a SMB share. My maximum data transfer rate from the NAS to PC is about 240MB/s, which is much faster than the old NAS. What I am noticing is that file or directory moves that used to be almost instantaneous are taking many times longer. It does not seem to matter how I connect to the NAS, as I have tried the following: \\IP_ADDRESS_OF_NAS\share \\NAS_NETWORK_NAME\share \\IP_ADDRESS_OF_NAS\c \\NAS_NETWORK_NAME\c \\IP_ADDRESS_OF_NAS\c mapped to drive letter \\NAS_NETWORK_NAME\c mapped to drive letter In some of these, it is doing a copy/delete, while in others it is moving the files, but at a rate of a few items a second rather than how it was previously capable of moving entire directories in a second or two. This problem occurs even if files or directory is moved within the same share such as Music. Am I connecting to the NAS incorrectly, or is there a setting that I may have missed? Thanks for your consideration3.3KViews0likes9Comments
