AC2200 Orbi Micro Router(RBR20) not working after Plusnet outage

Plusnet went down for a few hours this afternoon and my AC2200 Orbi Micro Router (RBR20) has not recovered.  The Plusnet Hub 2 is working fine again and you can connect directly to it, but the Orbi is saying "no internet connection" and has a solid white light.

I have tried the reset button several times over the last few hours, and I have tried to set it up as a new device using the app, but get the same error every time.

I also tried putting the hub into bridging mode and using the advanced settings to connect via PPPoE based on some other advice I read online but that didn't work either.

Grateful for any suggestions!

So I clicked that, and it started going through the motions and then eventually said, "Existing Router or Gateway Detected Note: We detected an existing router or gateway on your network. You can still connect your Orbi router to your network and it will be set in router mode." AND THEN IT WORKED!

The key bit there is "Existing Router or Gateway Detected".

When routers do that, they can change the settings from the default, which means giving it an IP address that does not clash with the other router. It often goes for 10.0.0.1 rather than 192.168.1.1.

p.s. Re the Plusnet Hub 2, I logged onto the admin site and in Advanced Settings>Broadband there is an enable/disable switch labelled 'bridging' with a warning, "Enabling Bridge mode means Routing, NAT, DHCP Server and Local DNS will be disabled. The Plusnet Hub will only act as a modem" - whether that is 'genuine' bridging, I do not know.

It should be right, but that message suggests that the Plusnet thing was not fully bridged and in modem only mode.

Maybe it was down to the order of rebooting the network.

Now that you have got things going as required, it might be a good idea to create backup of your Orbi settings. Then you can recover the next time the sky falls in.

Nice to know that Netgear's various apps and wizards have their place and can get things right.

If Plusnet is like the rest of BT, its Hub will be a modem/router. (The device looks suspiciously like a white version of BT's execrable Home Hub,) Worse, it does not offer the option to put it into genuine (modem only) bridge mode.

I don't understand that bit. But, as I said, BT usually blocks bridge mode option.

In those circumstances, the advice is usually to put the Orbi into access point (AP) mode.

      Hi Michael

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.  As soon as I read 'AP mode', I thought, that sounds familiar!

I found some instructions here (netgear.com)  but unfortunately they were a bit out of date, because if you go to the orbilogin site now, it just tells you to download the app. So I was back in the app, being sent around in the same infuriating circular set-up routine as yesterday, with no option to log in or access any other settings.  Eventually I had a brainwave, and tried using my husband's laptop instead of my phone and there, praise be, was a tiny link under all the INSTALL OUR APP hyperbole, that you could click on if you didn't have a suitable device.

So I clicked that, and it started going through the motions and then eventually said, "Existing Router or Gateway Detected Note: We detected an existing router or gateway on your network.
