ADT came and tried to connect directly to the Orbi AC2200 via the ethernet out port

I gave it a shot - picked up the newest, gold ethernet cables.  Nothing resolved.

But our problem is two-fold: the wireless is sketchy, coming and going, but it mostly works.  But we've got ethernet cables out to our ADT Gateway, and about a month ago we started to lose access to our ADT Pulse app, which has now escalated to no access at all.  (We can still set ADT manually.)

ADT came and tried to connect directly to the Orbi AC2200 via the ethernet out port -- got no signal at all.  Netgear app test and tells us our speeds are "extremely fast" - but it always tells us that.  After only 3 years, Orbi has turned into junk - we feel completely misled by all those good reviews.

  • Hello,

Sketchy Wireless Connection: If your wireless connection is intermittent, there are a few things you can try to improve it:

Make sure your Orbi AC2200 router is placed in a central location, away from obstructions like walls or large electronic devices that can interfere with the signal.
Update the firmware of your Orbi router to the latest version, as new updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements.
Change the wireless channel on your router. Sometimes, neighboring Wi-Fi networks can cause interference. Switching to a less congested channel can improve your wireless signal quality.
If possible, try connecting to the 5GHz frequency band instead of the 2.4GHz band. The 5GHz band usually offers faster speeds and less interference.
Consider adding a Wi-Fi range extender or access point to improve coverage in areas with weak signal strength.
Ethernet Connectivity to ADT Gateway: Since connecting the ADT Gateway directly to the Orbi router's Ethernet port didn't yield any signal, it could indicate a hardware or configuration issue. Here are some steps to try:

Test the Ethernet cable by connecting a different device to the same port on the router. Ensure that the cable is securely plugged in on both ends.
Verify that the Ethernet port on the Orbi router is enabled and properly configured. Check the router's settings to ensure the port is not disabled or set to a different mode.
Restart both the Orbi router and the ADT Gateway. Power cycling the devices can sometimes resolve temporary issues.
If possible, try using a different Ethernet port on the Orbi router or connecting the ADT Gateway to a different router if available.

Is this the ADT Gateway: https://help.adt.com/s/article/What-Is-An-ADT-Pulse-Gateway-and-What-Do-I-Do-if-It-Is-Offline

Do you have any other device with an Ethernet port that can be connected to the Orbi as a test?

AC2200 is a marketing description.  The actual product number is printed on the product label on the bottom of the case.
