All local PC and severs connected to orbi are unreachable

Hi I own an orbi mesh with 2 satellites. I would like to use it to extend the ethernet capabilities of my network and reach  2 wired PCs, one of witch is a plex server. My main router (provided by the ISP) is already set to assign the address 192.168.1.3 to the pc running the plex server. Once I installed Orbi in my network I connected the plex server pc to one of the satellites and now the plex server is not reachable. My guess is Orbi creates a new sub network that is not reachable from the ISP router.

Is it possible to reach wired PCs inside the orbi network? I would love if whatever is inside the orbi network keeps the same IP assigned by the main router.

Thank you

  • Its because you're running 2x routers on your network causing a double nat.

A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
    1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
    2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
    3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.
