Cabling new access point to ORBI RBR50

hello

I have a device which I cannot force to join my orbi satellite. The device is a fixed device and will not move from its current location.

I have a CAT6 port 10m away from the device which is connected to the ORBI router via a non ORBI gigabit unmanaged switch.

Can I connect any access point to the gigabit switch (non-ORBI brand - like this one https://www.amazon.com.au/TP-Link-TL-WA850RE-300Mbps-Universal-Extender/dp/B0776QG4P8), change the SSID to something unique, hide the SSID and have the one device connect to this SSID? Will it still be seen as normal by the rest of my network (i.e. ping response and internet access)?

I don't really want to fork out money for another satellite given this device is a simple IOT device and does not need high speed internet.

Yes, this is a perfect situation to deploy an inexpensive WiFi access point.  There is no need to hide the WiFi SSID, but you certainly can hide it if the device allows you to key in the SSID instead of choose from a list of visible access points. Probably best to create this new WiFi network on a channel far from the existing network (to reduce interference).
