Can an Orbi Sattelite use another Sattelite?
I need to extend the range of a complex layout thick walled multi-floor house where the Router is positioned on the 2nd floor corner. My question is, if a 3rd sattelite is used, does it need to be within range of the router or can it leverage the other sattelite?
Simplified layout:
Would placing a sattelite in the proposed location work? Can a sattelite use another sattelite to establish connectivity or does it require communication with a router?
As of now, each satellite requires a direct connection with the router (Star topology). In the future, the option may be there for signal hopping through other satellites back to the router (Mesh topology). So don't bet on it. Can't know for certain if the backhaul signal on the 2nd satellite will be able to work reliably directly back to the router through all that structure in the way. I feel your pain, my house eats wifi signals too.

I was under the impression that Orbi's router and sattelites are using a mesh topology.

nope its star topology
there is a suggestion that they may go to mesh in the future however as seen with other mesh devices this reduces the benefit the orbi currently has
