Can't connect Orbi to New Zealand Vodafone FibreX
My computer can connect to my Orbi wi-fi network and the base unit is correctly connected to the Vodafone-supplied cable modem using the ethernet cable. However it is displaying the magenta ring and I can't connect to the Internet.
I have followed the retailer's Advanced > Setup > Internet configuration instructions posted here. However my Orbi has a later version of the firmware than shown in the instructions and this does not include the Advanced > Advanced Setup > VLAN Bridge Settings panel, so I can't enter these settings as specified by the retailer.
Is this my problem? Is there a need and a way to enter these settings, or are they redundant for my ISP/firmware (v2.x.x) - in which case, what could my problem be? I know the Internet is working as I can access it via the Vodafone-supplied router which I am trying to replace with my new Orbi.
This is driving me nuts. Any help and advice appreciated.

What is the Mfr and model# of your ISP modem? If it's a modem router combo:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, LAN to LAN and configure AP mode on the Orbi router.- wwwebsterAspirant
My modem is a cable modem only - no router fundtion. It is badged as the ISP brand, there is no evidence of any other manufacturer. My ISP-supplied router is just that, a separate router, which I am attempting to replace with the Orbi product. Thanks for the reply.

This will take a little figuring out from the other side of the World (UK), however, some suggestions:
- Your modem will be doing the negotiation with the network so switch 'Does your Internet connection require a login' to 'No.' This in itself may get you up and running.
- I'm not sure what the relevance of the VLAN/Bridge Group settings are for simple Internet access but I'm not familiar with your ISP. I would initially disable this.
Let us know how you get on.
