Devices not connecting to satellite

Hello,

I have an Orbi RBR50 router with an Orbi RBS50 Satellite. I am running into trouble with multiple devices that won't "switch" their connection from the RBR50 to the RBS50 as I move across my house (MUCH closer to the RBS50 than the RBR50). This is resulting in extremely slow connections near my sattelite.

Is this a placement issue? I feel like devices should easily switch their connection to the satellite when I am in the same room, not hang on to the router.

Thank you,

Matt

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

Do you have Fast Roaming enabled on the RBR?

It's up to the wireless devices to pick and chose where they connect to based on signa, range and noise. Some devices may not have any roaming features thus you have to disable the wifi radios on those devices for a few seconds then back on to have them re-connect to the better signal source.

I would say I'm somewhere between 40-50 feet if I'm measuring straight through all of the walls/rooms/etc. The satellitel is also two levels up from the router.

I couldn't find a fast roaming setting in the app. Is there someplace else I should look?

Look on the routers web page with a web browser. It won't be in the Orbi app.
