Does a Netgear Mesh RBS50 satelite work with and Netgear Mesh Orbi RBK40 router?

Does a RBS50 satelite work with and RBK40 router?  I've had a RBK40 system in place for a while with 3 satelites and I wanted to order a 4th.  I wasn't able to source an RBS40 satelite so ended up buying a RBK50 full system (router and a satelite).  Rather than reset my entire network I wanted to add the new satelite to my existing network.  Alas I can't seem to connect it.  Well, it connects so I can see it in my list of devices but I can't sync it (it's just sits as "Config Sync" forever despite using the app to add it and following the add satelite process.  Does a satelite from an RBK50 model work with an RBK40 router?  If it does - any tips about getting it connected?

  • Yes it does.

the only ones not compatible with the RBR40 are the 10 series and the newer AX verisons.

    so you can use:

    RBS20

    RBW30

    RBS40

RBS40V (used to go on sale a lot)

    RBS50

    RBS50Y

There have been posts on the forum in the past describing a method to add satellites after the first three.  The explanation given was that the router can handle up to at least six satellites, but the "add" method gets stuck at three.  The technique was to power off one of the existing satellites.  Add the fourth satellite.  Then power the original satellite back on.

This technique was described in terms of using the Orbi web interface (http://orbilogin,net), the bottom menu item "Add Orbi Satellite".

I have not done this myself, having only two satellites total.  And, I have not added satellites using the "app".

If you try this technique, please post the results.

I've used up to 5 satellites successfully. It was overkill for my home so I had to shut a few down or it was super unstable.

But CrimpOn is correct in how I did it. After you hit 3 satellites sync'd, power a couple off and set up your other devices. Then power the turned off ones back on and they should connect.
