Download speed 8 times lower than upload speed
I have an extremely strange problem that I cannot solve and can only conclude that there is a hardware problem. In short I have an FTTC connection via a Draytek 2860 and I get around 70mbps/18mbps download / upload. However from the RBR50, the download speed via the speedtest shows 2.3Mbps download and 18.63Mbps upload!
- I have run the speedtest directly from the RBR web interface (the built in one via a PC and direct connection) and from a mobile speedtest client connected via WiFi and both has reported the 2.3/18 result above
- To rule out the router I ran a speedtest from my PC connected directly to the same port of the Draytek router and it produces the expected 70Mbps/18Mbps speeds.
- I did a factory reset on the router and it has not made a difference
- I changed the cable between the RBR50 access point (it's configured as AP) and the router and it has made no difference
From the above tests I have eliminated the Draytek router and the physical cabling being the issues.
I am not sure what else I can try to figure out what could be the problem? I don't understand how the download speed could be down by a multiple of 8 over the upload speed, especially since even the speedtest on the RBR50 produces the same result.
Anyone have any idea what is going on?
Thanks very much for any help in advance.

Your ISP modem already has built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktopI recommend trying AP mode first...
Any progress on this?
