Expanding my RBR40 system

Greetings,

I currently have an RBR40 system with 1 satellite.  The main router is located in the middle of my house, while the satellite is in my barn.  This gives me solid coverage within the house, through the area between the house and barn, and a bit into the back yard beyond the barn.  About 100' from the satellite is a pool house where I have spotty coverage.  My Sonos speaker frequently loses connection with the satellite which aggravatingly stops the music mid-pool party...😱

My feeling is that the Sonos antenna isn't strong enough to reliably catch the satellite's signal.  My laptop works fine out there as does my phone.  So, I think the solution is to get some type of access point or similar into the pool house.

I know the RBR40 is reaching (or has reached) Netgear's end-of-life.  However, the system continues to work well otherwise and I don't want to invest $500+ at this time.  Tracking down RBS40 satellites has been frustrating.  Everyone wants to sell an RBR40 that's had its firmware converted to an RBS40.  I'm hesitant to buy those off the gray market.

So, if you were in my shoes, what Netgear product would you purchase to create a daisy chain backhaul connection to the satellite in the barn?  I would put this device in the pool house so that the Sonos can get a stronger signal.

Thanks!

Pat

Id install some CAT6A STP cabling from the home or from the barn and get it out to the pool area, then you could install another RBS20, 30, or 50 series here and ethernet connect it. Or install a non RBS wireless AP here using a separate SSID name. 100 Feet is going to be to far for most RBS or extenders. Wire maybe needed here. Might see if the pool area has power and is on same power circuit as the home or barn, try some power line adapters for ethernet connection support.

Thanks - I'd put some thought into a powerline adapter.  That may be the only option unless I go with some direct-bury CAT6.  My wife's gardens would make that a problematic cable run...  I wish I'd thought ahead and had them run an extra conduit (or at least another pull string) in the line that runs from the barn to the pool house.

I'm hesitant to go with something that will start another SSID.  I believe the Sonos devices (of which I have a few), all need to be on the same subnet.  I think a non-mesh device would create a separate subnet, and that would confuse the Sonos devices even further...

Is there a Netgear AP that would seamlessly join the Orbi mesh network and just become 'one with the force?'

      Thanks again!

If you put in a separate AP while on configuring the AP for same IP address subnet, you should be fine. Or just needing some wifi coverage there and as along as the IP address of the AP is on same subnet as the main is, all should work.
