Google blocks e-mail send sign-in from Orbi

I filled out my gmail server credentials for security event email notifications, resulting in Google sending me an email saying the sign-in attempt from Orbi is blocked because it is a "Less secure app", and Google will "continue to block sign-in attempts from the app you're using because it has known security problems or is out of date". I don't want to enable this by configuring my account to allow "...access to less secure apps". Has anyone else encountered this and solved it?
