Hardwiring RBR50 and satellites - 1 ethernet

I have an RBR50 with 2 satellites (not hardwired).  I am buying a used rbr50 to set up as an access point to extend my network, but want it hardwired.  I think I only have a single ethernet running to the main base where I would normally use a 2nd ethernet to run to the accesspoint or a satellite.

Can i use a gig switch somehow between the incoming signal and the rbr50 to hardwire the additional satelites/access point?   or how can I do this?  i read somewhere that 1gig speed requires all 8 conductors of the ethernet cable.

Thx.

Ya but a 2nd RBR is not advised. Even in AP mode, the 2nd RBR would need to be set to AP mode and using separate wifi channels and different SSID name, may cause problems. Might get a RBS and connect it via ethernet. Non managed switch is recommended.
