I am trying to track down a nuisance connectivity issue. I occasionally encounter loss of connection for typically a few seconds (1 - 20 seconds). Normally this wouldn't be an issue, however it's a pain when I'm connected to my work through a VPN and it drops upon a slight loss in internet. My computer is connected wirelessly to the RBR20 router. I've got two wireless satellites and one hardwired satellite. I show that there are about 20 different devices connected to the orbi system. Most are minor devices (Ring doorbell cameras, etc.). I don't have any complaint about speed (ATT fiber - 300MB). I contacted ATT and they said that there hasn't been any connection issue to their smarthub in a couple of months and supposedly they see on a second by second basis. ATT suggested that I reach out to Mesh community as they don't see a problem on their side. I downloaded an Internet Connection Monitor extension in Chrome, i've attached the log to this post. I am unsure if the connectivity is a concern without being connected to the VPN as I probably wouldn't recognize the loss of connection for a few seconds depending on what I was doing. I do occasionally run into loss of internet on smart TV's so I'm assuming that the random connection is routinely occurring. NOTE - this log would only be valid when I have my work computer connected to home network, so I'd guess that the connection concern is a whole lot worse than I am showing. Any suggestions on what to look for or settings to change? The connection shows full strength. Example of connection log pasted here:RBR40 - VPN stopped to work
Hi, I do have an RBR40 with 3 satellites. Until some time ago (can't quantify, sorry) I had the VPN working nicely. Now is not working anymore, I can't even enable it clicking on the box and then Apply. Nothing happens. If I refresh the page after the Apply it shows disabled. There is something I can do ? Or I have to trash away the system because obsolete ? Thanks SteveOrbi System causing issue with EPSN app
Hello, I have an RBR50 with multiple satellites that has worked flawlessly for years. However, now with the latest crack downs on VPN's etc. I am having issues with certain apps, specifically right now the ESPN app. I spent close to two days trouble shooting, including on the phone with ESPN support and have narrowed it down to something within the WiFi network. The ESPN app for refence would not work on my SamsungTV, iPhone, AppleTV, or Firestick. However, if I disconnect my iPhone from the network it will work using cellular data. Also, if I remove my incoming ethernet cable from the Router, and connect it directly to the AppleTV it will work as well. Any suggestions? I do not see a option for VPN or proxy settings on the Orbi app. Thanks for any help in advanceSolvedCan Orbi RBR50 connect via WiFi when used as an access point?
Can Orbi RBR50 connect via WiFi when used as an access point or does it have to be via ethernet cable? I have a google wifi mesh system setup and am trying not to have to buy more google wifi, so I was going to mix it with the orbi I have. I put it on AP mode, but I couldn't find a way to make it work as an access point without it being hard wired to the main google wifi router. Is it possible to have it connected wirelessly? If so, how? If not, can I change the name of the network and put the same name as the google wifi network ? Would that work ?Orbi router RBR40 question
I have an Orbi router RBR40 and it came with (3) RBS20 satellites. I added (1) RBS50 satellite. I know my router is too old to do a firmware update on the router. At this point I can't really afford to replace everything I have. I know there are newer and better options and at some point maybe I can replace them. My question's are: Can I buy a newer router that will work with the satellites that I have? If so which one? Can I add another satellite to the set up that I have. I don't know if there is a max limit to the number of satellites I can have. Again if I can add another which one? Newer than the RBS50? If I can't add another satellite can I buy a Wi-Fi extender to add to the set up? I have an area that I need better Wi-Fi reception. If I have to go with a Wi-Fi extender which one? Thanks!!Netgear stated firmware to be released to fix inability to work with iOS Private Relay
Netgear published an article, located at https://kb.netgear.com/000065057/The-Nighthawk-or-Orbi-app-on-my-Apple-iOS-device-only-connects-to-my-router-or-mesh-system-with-Anywhere-Access-What-can-I-do. In this article, Netgear stated "NETGEAR is planning to release Nighthawk and Orbi app updates that enable compatibility with Apple's new privacy features. Until we release the updates, we recommend that you disable the Private Relay and Limit IP Address Tracking features for all iOS 15 devices on your home network. Not sure when Netgear published this document as I don't see a date on the site. I would like to know when this will be available for the RBR40 (and others as well). I really hate having to remember, and actually modify settings, every time I go out to turn Private Relay on and then come home to find out that my Orbi is blocking me because I have Private Relay turned on. Is Netgear going to do what they said they will do or do I need to find another Mesh system to work with Private Relay? If I need to move to the competition, which mesh systems work with Private Relay "ON"?SolvedPower cord pen on the motherboard of this router to go bad
I just have been experiencing the same frustration five years later – there’s no reason for the power cord pen on the motherboard of this router to go bad when it just sits on a shelf and no one touches it. I hope they fix the issue because Net Gear customer service is terrible. He suggested maybe I was too rough in unplugging it and plugging it in for the second time in three years.Orbi RBR50 - hardwire satellites issues
I have the rbr50 and 2 satellites. Did have full coverage for all area's. I can hardwire the satellites to the router, but only have a single cat V cable at each location but all terminate together in basement. was going to get another satellite but stand alone they are very expensive and older technology. can I simply plug all 3 orbi's into a unmanaged gig switch and will be the same as if daisy-chained? the 3 orbi's were all connected via wireless previously. 2ndly, i have a temp mesh network using tp link thru the same unmanaged switch with the switch connected to the back of my xfinity router. If i plug the orbi in t6he switch (instead of the router where it was originally connected, will it connect and the 2 sat's without needing to be reset to new and reinstalled? thxRBR50 dead?
