Nighthawk app and Home Assistant app with Netgear integration don't read the full list of connected devices even though the 192.168.1.1 router admin portal shows the full list of connected devices. I have two phones that do not show up on the list in either app, but do show up on the list in the router admin portal. The only workaround is to reboot the RS500 router which properly syncs the full list of connected devices across apps but within 1-2 weeks the list becomes desynchronized again. This causes my home automation to fail as it relies on my phones being discovered on the WiFi network for presence detection when I am home and connected to the router. My router firmware version is v1.0.5.22. Since both home assistant and nighthawk apps are failing to read the full device list at the same time, I believe this is a router firmware issue or REST API cloud/server endpoint issue (ARP cache issue?). Home assistant uses the Netgear API via Python on a raspberry pi server connected directly via Ethernet to the router, I'd assume the nighthawk app uses a similar mechanism to retrieve the connected device list. Hoping this can be escalated to the Netgear engineering team. Best regards.44Views0likes7CommentsRBR50 out of nowhere is losing connectivity 5-7 random times a day
So, I am relatively technical and out of nowhere by Orbi Mesh has lost its mind. Spent two weeks with Spectrum to make sure everything is perfect between the Node and my House and then with Spectrum Maintenance to make sure the Node and Upstream is fine. I share a node with my neighbor, and he has had zero issues....so it appears to be my Orbi out of the blue. No new devices added or removed and no changes. What firmware is loaded on the RBR and RBS? Firmware is V2.7.5.6 What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? Brand New Spectrum Charter Modem - Model ET2251 / DOCSIS 3.1 eMTA What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected. Nothing changed of course, but 3,000. Each Orbit is on its own floor, 2nd, Main, Basement and for 4 years has worked flawlessly and yes more than 30 ft apart of course. Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF? Mmmm...I have not been able to try that as my wife works on the Main Floor and her only access is Wireless and she can't get a single from the RBR from my second floor office....but on the weekend I can try this if nothing else. Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices? Yes - my work laptop is hard wired to RBR What channel configurations are currently set on the router? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz. Nothing changed....but 2.4Ghz is Auto and 5GHz is 48 - how is is possible that Auto for years worked on 2.4 and now this is my issue...can adjust I guess, but a bit lost on this one. I have two devices (Playstations) that I want to pause at certain times. I can do this when they connect to WIFI, but I purposely purchased an additional satellite so I could hardwire the two Playstations to achieve better speeds. However, hardwiring them into the satellite means they dont appear in the device list and available for me to add into a group under the parent controls. Any ideas to fix this?15Views1like1CommentVPN client on R6700v3 router - internal network
I have a R6700v3 router with the VPN service set up. I have a Windows 10 laptop with the latest OpenVPN client on it. I had to set it to Unsecured since the TLS was reporting as too low. The client does connect and gets a 192.168.254.2 address from the router. I verified the router has the laptop listed as a connected device. However, I can not ping or connect to any of my internal 172.16.200.xxx network devices. I have the VPN service set for 'Home network and Internet' in its setup. I found mention of 'VPN Passthrough' in other forums, but I don't see that setting on the R6700v3. Any suggestions? Thank you!Brand new BE17000 - No 2.4ghz
I just purchased this BE17000, I set up all of the wireless networks and then turned on guest. For the 2.4ghz guest wifi I gave it a name separate from the rest of them (netgear-iot) and saved the settings. Everything was working fine for about 2 days and I was able to see this separate network. Today, the network on the 2.4ghz disappeared and I cannot get it to come back. I tried: turning off smart connect at which point the 2.4ghz on the normal wifi goes away and I just see -5g and -6g. I did a full factory reset and that did not fix the issue. I tried unplugging for 2 minutes and then doing a factory reset, unplugging for another 2 minutes and turning everything back on and the 2.4ghz radio will not work. The 2.4ghz light on the front of the router is lit, but I cannot see the network from any device and it WAS working just fine for the first couple of days that I had the router.15Views0likes1CommentOrbi RBE771 lags every hour on the same minute
For the past 11 months my Orbi RBE771 lags every hour on the same minute from when it is booted. This lag lasts for about 30 - 60 seconds. I have tried disabling IPV6, Armor, Traffic Meter etc. The issue happens when wired to the satellites or connected over WiFi. This mesh system is used for gaming and it was purchased for its high speed 2.5Gbps ports on the satellites. The lag during gaming is finally getting unbearable. I have updated every FW version that has came out this year but the problem still persists. Does anyone have a fix for this?Orbi and Paramount + Streaming
I have tried every trouble shooting attempt I could find online that had anything to do with Netgear, streaming services, Paramout, and/or Samsung TV. The Samsung TV I have is about 5 years old, there are some Paramount + shows I am able to access without an issue (The Daily Show, CBS Morning, The Late Show with Steven Colbert). I cannot stream things like Landman, Tracker, Naked Gun. However, I am able to access every Paramount + show through the app on the same network on an iPhone, iPad, Chrome/Firefox/Safari Browser, and Roku device. I only have an issue only my Samsung TV since I upgraded my internet to 1G/1G and upgrade to the Netgear to an Orbi meshed network router w 2 satellites. There has to be some setting that I'm missing that can be updated. When I had my old Netgear Nighthawk, if I had any parental controls set - at all - I would not be able to access Paramount + on the Samsung TV. I tried changing over to my guest network that does not have the parental controls and I could not access the shows either. I enabled DHCP, verified the Private Relay settings on the network, removed the ap, cleared the cache and data, reset the tv, restarted the Orbi and nothing will get this to clean up and work. Please let me know what other changes I can make to get this ap to work properly.30Views0likes4CommentsOrbi RBR750P Wi-Fi Drops
I bought a new RBR750P with one satellite in April 2025. It's been problematic from the outset, insofar as I am getting random wi-fi drops. Meaning: the SSID disappears from the list of available networks multiple devices (e.g. my MacBook and iPad) connected to that SSID lose their wi-fi connection all SSIDs are lost e.g. the main network and the guest network neither the router or satellite are allowing connections the device is still powered on, and my knowledge never lost power after a few minutes the network will come back up, but in spite of having "auto-join" selected, I have to manually reconnect from my MacBook and iPad it happens randomly, maybe every couple of days, plus or minus 1 Some other data points: the router is plugged into the little network closet in the laundry room router is less than 20 feet away from my MacBook and iPad this is not a matter of weak signal -- there is no wifi to connect to at any strength satellite is upstairs, but it shouldn't matter because there is no SSID at all house is 4000 sq ft, but it shouldn't matter when my devices are 20 feet from the router I do have Armor, and yes it is enabled, and no I don't plan on disabling it--I'm paying an incremental subscription cost for this and I want the functionality I've paid for I usually have 20-25 devices connected, on a combination of router & satellite connection--almost all of those are very low traffic--thermostats, fridge, water leak detector, etc. It's really aggravating. I expect network to be solid as a rock. My attitude right now is that of General McKittrick in WarGames: "After careful consideration I've determined that your newfangled system sucks". Is anyone else experiencing this?Solved
