Help with Orbi AC3000 please
This router (and 1 satellite) has worked beautifully for a long time except for one issue: most of my devices support 5ghz wifi connection but the connection doesn't work.
When my devices connect to 2.4ghz, it works great.
When they connect to 5ghz, it works for a little while and then stops. But instead of changing back to 2.4ghz, it stays connected to 5ghz but will not work on any site or app. It does this on 2 different tablets, 4 different cell phones, and 2 laptops.
I finally got sick of this and disabled the 5ghz. Now it's only connected to the 2.4ghz and everything is working smoothly.
Except for when I try to log into the router. Using orbilogin.com or the ip address keeps failing. I cleared out the cache, tried 3 different browsers, nothing. It won't work on any of our computers; one using ethernet and two using wifi
However, I can access orbilogin.com using the wifi on my cell phone. I can access all the settings but I'm afraid to enable 5ghz again so I'm leaving it off for now.
Anyone have any idea on how I can fix this so I can access the router settings on a computer screen instead of my little cell phone screen?
And any chance somebody would know what I'm doing wrong, if anything, with the 5ghz settings that most of my devices won't work with the 5ghz connection? Again, the devices I'm using do actually support 5ghz.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
Ian
Edit: turns out I was wrong. Thought I disabled the 5ghz but it's still changing the connections to 5ghz. Figures.

What do you mean by disabling 5Ghz? FYI, 5Ghz or any radio on the Orbi system can not be disabled.
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the Orbi router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the Orbi router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.
Press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release.

Thanks for all the information. Here's the problem; I can no longer seem to access the router.
I had to contact Spectrum and have them send me a new router so I could get back onto the internet. That's why I wasn't able to get on to respond sooner.
I had tried to switch the router to ap mode instead of router mode to see if it would stop dropping the connections.
Now nothing seems to be able to access the internet. Both Ethernet and wifi connections say connected but no Internet available
Logging into IP addresses and orbilogin doesn't do anything
Resetting the router doesn't seem to work either. I unplugged everything, hit the reset button until I saw a red light, then waited for it to boot.
It still spits out my wifi name so I dont think it's resetting.
How do I reset the router back to router mode so I can put my router back in instead of using the Spectrum router?
The spectrum router is weird. It refuses to let me access the IP address to change the wifi name or settings unless I do it on their website which doesn't feel safe.
Ironically, the spectrum wifi connection with one router is actually better than the orbi with the satellite.... But the Ethernet connection is very slowWhat do you mean by disabling 5Ghz? FYI, 5Ghz or any radio on the Orbi system can not be disabled.

- SIUserAspirantThank you but I can't access any of these because I think the orbi is still stuck in ap mode.
I tried doing a hard reset but still nothing.
I followed your steps, unplugged everything, plugged them back in in the order you specified. I still can't access the orbi using the browser (even when connected with the Ethernet
And the same wifi user name and password still comes up. Which makes me think the hard reset isn't working. Is the RBR still connected to the host router for the AP mode? If so, look at the host routers connected clients table and find the RBR listed with it's IP address. Use this IP address to try to connect to the RBRs web page and if you can log in and get to the RBRs web page, use the ERASE button to do a factory reset: https://kb.netgear.com/000062081/How-do-I-erase-the-configuration-settings-on-my-Orbi-WiFi-System
