How do set up Ethernet connection with PlayStation?

I have the router connected to the Ethernet port in the wall. I have a satellite in my room. I want to connect an Ethernet cable from my satellite to my PlayStation, but when I do so, it acts as if I have nothing plugged in and only does wireless. Although when I plugged my PlayStation into a wall it connected fine. So it’s certainly a problem with the satellite. How can I establish the connection with an Ethernet cord?

  • "into the wall" does not provide enough information.  What would be helpful is....

    • Inforamation about those ethernet cables inside the wall.
Where do they go? (a central place in the house?)
    • Where is the Orbi router in relation to that cabling?
    • Is there a patch panel or ethernet switch installed?
    • When the PS was connected to the satellite, was that directly to the satellite with an ethernet cable?

I have no idea about the cables in the wall. I assume it’s just the standard Ethernet port for any home internet where you connect from the wall to the modem typically. It’s on the far side of the house.

The router itself is right next to it.

I’m not sure what a patch panel or Ethernet switch is but there’s nothing else the Router is plugged into except an Ethernet port in the wall almost like an outlet.

Yes I plugged the PS into the satellite directly.

Additionally, my internet connection speed is apparently perfectly fast.
  • After plugging it in, did you rerun your setup on the playstation?

Sorry if I misunderstood but I set up my internet connection on my PlayStation through settings and network settings and chose Ethernet if that’s what you meant. If not then no I haven’t tried that.
