How does Orbi stack up against the rest? Orbi Vs. BT Whole Home WiFi & Google WiFi
The popular review site KITGURU pit Orbi vs. several other WiFi mesh and WiFi extender products, and found that Orbi WiFi System outperformed the rest in almost all tests. As expected the Orbi RBK50 AC3000 came out on top, but the RBK40 and RBK30 were not far behind, consistently getting great results too. At the extreme range of 32m, behind obstructions, the Orbi RBK50 was still able to provide a useable WiFi signal.

Don't know if it's been mentioned here, but the smallnetbuilder (SNB) web site also provides test results. The tests there are on a wider variety of mesh products, including the eero and Deco, etc. So they're of interest as well. Of course, the Orbi does quite well in the SNB tests, too :-).

It's pretty awesome.
I wish - and know that other than Ubiquty's Amplifi HD, the competitors are in the same boat - the user stream fro Orbi was utilizing 3x3 streams (vs just 2x2). Seems to make MU-MIMO a bit of a dud, and also usesl less streams than Apple devices (which utilize 3x3 radios)...
Does this mean tghat the Amplifi HD is better than the orbi or worse?

I'd suggest that you go and look at the mesh system reviews/tests on smallnetbuilder.com. The main reviewer there does actual head-to-head tests of mesh systems (including the Orbi, which has only taken on a mesh aspect recently, it has been mostly a star topology until the implement daisy chaining between satellites, and Amplifi). A big reward for a little reading *smile*.
