How to block ghost calls

The VoIP device has been receiving ghost calls from a fixed IP (seems to be self-generated from the router).

There is a suggestion to forward the Port 5060 to an internal IP address outside the DHCP range and then set WAN Security to Open and Disable SIP ALG.

Please advise if the above solution works.

  • Perhaps you could provide a more detailed description of the problem?

    There are dozens of VoIP systems.  Which is this one?

    Can you clarify "from a fixed IP"?  Does this mean "from the same IP every time"?

    I am not clear on the meaning of "seems to be self-generated from the router".

      The VoIP device is Polycom RealPresence Group 500.

      The ghost calls (only receiving ringing tones but no callers at the other end) have been generated from a fixed IP address with the following displays, like :

      2850@192.168.1.39;

      2851@192.168.1.39;

      641@192.168.1.39;

      1781@192.168.1.39;

      1001@192.168.1.39;

      1000@192.168.1.39;

      100@192.168.1.39;

      ml@192.168.1.39;

      suk@192.168.1.39; etc.

      The IP address is the Polycom device internal IP.

        I would contact the phone Mfr to see if they have any information on this. They may have features to help on this.
