How to increase wifi speed (130 mbs fed to router but 39 mbs max wifi )
Hello,
I have upgraded my Internet provider to a 120 mbs feed into my home. I am actually getting 130 mbs at the RBR50 Orbi router. However, the wifi speed in my home reaches only 39 mbs. How can I make it faster?
I have one router (RBR50, firmware version V2.3.5.30) and one satellite (RBS50, firmware version V2.3.4.30)

Be sure both RBR and RBS are using same version of FW.
What wireless devices are you using to speed test with? Be sure the device is connected to the RBR or RBS for testing. Turn OFF the RBS temporarily.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Same version of firmware are used on bothe router and satellite (V2.3.5.30)
Modem mfr is Hitron; model CODA-4680
Home is 2000 sq ft ,on two story. (1500 + 500). router and satellite are on 1500 sq ft story and 30 ft appart.
Setting modifications and resulting download speed:
Enabled Beamforming
Enabeld MU-MIMO
changed 2.4 GHz from auto to 01: result 37 Mbs download speed
changed 2.4 GHz from 01 to 06: result 24 Mbs download speed
changed 2.4 GHz from 06 to 11: result 28 Mbs download speed
changed 2.4 GHz from 11 back to auto : result 43 Mbs download speed
I live downtown and there are 5 other wifi network with visible SSID and within range.
So the fastest wifi I can obtain is with 2.4 GHz set to auto. When I first posted this, I had 39 Mbs download speed. The only other change was the Enabled Beamforming and MU-MIMO.
Still, 43 Mbs fom an Orbi which can apparently deliver in the 100's Mbs wifi speed is deceiving. Again, my internet feed to the router is 130 Mbs ! Orbi can only pull 43 Mbs out of the 130 Mbs potential. Deceiving.
Any faster router out there?
Orbi was advertised as rocket speed wifi. It is not performing to that level in my book,

What wireless devices are you using to speed test with? Is it connecting at 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?
Your ISP modem already has a built in router and wifi:
https://us.hitrontech.com/products/service-providers/coda-4680-cable-modem-router/
This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
