How to place 3 satellite orbi system on 4 story house 4k sq ft

I have had lots of trouble getting WIFI throughout my house.  I recnetly tried the Linksys Velop system and the signal with the 3 nodes just didnt get the signal through my house.

My house is 4 stories with my modem/ethernet connection on the top floor and a very deep basement.  I was wondering how I should position the satellites in my house to maximize my wifi?

My house is about 4k sq ft

  • Can 2 wired Orbi routers be used with 2 satellites each in one whole house system?  If both routers were given the same !P and password would that allow the system to expand it's range to approximately 8000 square feet?

In principle that would work. However, can cannot give both the same IP.  You probably meant SSID here.  Plus, you do not want more than one device performing routing functions on your network, so you would want one or both of the Orbis to operate in AP mode.

In practice it might now work well.  You would want the Orbis to operate on different channels to prevent interference between them.  Orbi presents a problem here, because there is no way for the user to choose the 5 GHz channel used for the backhaul.  So, the devices would need to be far enough apart to prevent interference between the backhaul channels. This could be very hard to achieve with two Orbi routers and four satellites.
