How to reconfig Orbi RBK23 for NBN FTTP. Mode = ETH WAN
hello folks,
For the last few years, we've used an Orbi RBK23 kit (one RBR20 router + two RBS20 satellites) as our home's mesh WIFI network. Hooked to the Australian National Broadband Network / NBN, via FTTC. From this fibre to the curb set-up, the house connection is the old copper wiring from the street's NBN distribution point unit to our home's telephone socket. From this internal socket at our home office room, a telephone cable to the NBN Connection Device (NCD), an internal box. From there, an Ethernet cable to our Orbi router.
Soon we will have this upgraded to FTTP, aka Fibre To The Premises. Fully fibre to the wall. Our FTTP ISP have told us to "Reconfigure your modem into ETH WAN mode – refer to your modem guide". I couldn't find any mention of "ETH WAN" mode in the NetGear community forums or RBK23 user documents.
Is Orbi RBK23 compatible for FTTP connections via a new NBN Network Termination Device / NTD?
Via my Orbi's current menu settings, PPPoE is selected for my ISP with username/password. With "Enable VLAN / Bridge group" inactive. Via Advanced Setup, the Router / AP Mode is set to Router. Apparently I should enable VLAN, with VLAN ID = 2, Priority = 0, yes or no?

FTTP usually use puts an ONT (optical network terminal) in your home or a gateway.
Depending on what your ISP uses, will change how you set it up.
If they use a gateway, then you need to figure out which one it is.
If its a ONT, then you should be able to direct connect the orbi to it and just setup the specific login info your ISP needs.
Sometimes you need vlan tagging but its more of a random for people needing IPTV services. Again, that'll depend on your isp and you might need to just wait until they have it setup so you know exactly what it is and what you need.
