Improving coverage

My experience with my Orbi system has been an absolute nightmare.  Wifi is always dropping, my satellite continues to drop connection even though it is 40 feet from the router.  Our 3,330 square foot home has weak signal at the ends when things are temporarily working.  Will any  Orbi satellite work with the RBR50 router, or do I need to buy a specific RBR50 satellite?  I may try adding some before I throw this system in the trash.

  • Satellite connection never stays green and I updated the firmware to match the router.  It is literally 40 feet from the router.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

What Firmware version is currently loaded? 2.5.2.4
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? Arris TM1602A
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode? Router

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? 3,600 (Single level, long home)
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.  It is currently about 40 feet.  Sould I go longer apart?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz. After I did a factory reset, I noticed it is on Auto for 2.4, I just switched to 06, 5ghz is set to 48.

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?  I usually do pick up 2 or 3 neighbors but right now I only see 1 (Myspectrumwifi71-2G) besides mine.

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings. Done-they were not checked, so now they are.

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor (done), Circle, Daisy Chain (done), Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only (i do not see this option, so I just disabled 20/40 coexistence). Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes (done). Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Lets see if the changes you made helped any.
You can go farther out at a distance between the RBR and RBS and see if this help with a bit more coverage.
