IS RBS50Y compatible with RBR10??
I asked this question 3 months ago, the answer from Netgear support was "Yes".
I bought today a RBS50Yv2 and I'm trying to install it unsucessfully, no way to connect it to the RBR10, after trying to sync (close to the RBR10) the led goes to magenta ("Connection failed") . To install it as an extender is not the solution I purchased it/was looking for, I would rather go for a refund.
Is it really compatible?
Compatible in extender mode, yes.
compatible in orbi mode. No. the RBK10 system is a dual band system while the RBS50Y is a triband system.
It should work fine in extender mode. Devices will still roam to it and it'll function as part of the mesh. its just not controlled via the app the same way.

- RBK13AspirantThanks, this is what I was afraid... the first answer I got from Netgear support was wrong and this is not the use I was intending for. I didn't want to add a new wifi ( I had that with other, by far cheaper extender) but keeping the mesh capability of Orbi.

The RBS50Y extender mode is a mesh extender mode. It'll use the same ssid as the router/satellites.
but there are cheaper options as that extender isn't exactly cheap
