IS the satellite directional? IOW- does it matter which way its facing?

Probably a dumb question:

Does it matter which way the orbi satelite/router faces?

Does the signal radiate equally well it all directions (forward vs towards the rear of the unit)?

  • It's not a dumb question - I don't know of any published document on that. Some manufacturers do publish the coverage around the device. You can probably do a test with a hand held scanner, but you would probably need something specialized to not be affected by other wifi around it.

  • Probably not.  Distance and signal attenuation are the main factors.  That said I watched some YouTube videos explaining antennas and beam forming. But It's still black magic witchcraft to me. Also, I read a review where they opened a unit showing antenna locations.
