multiroom audio is not working properly (speaker model: Libratone)

Hi - I have the orbi RBK40 and purchased it (as many of you have) to be able to have full throughput in my apartment to enjoy multiroom audio - a year back I purchased Libratone ZIPP speakers and have now 5 distributed in all rooms. For some reasons however, it doesn't always work very smooth and customer support told me to enable b/g/n which I have.

Also the suggestion is to run the speakers only on 2.4 GhZ or with one router - does anybody had the same experiences and has some ideas?

One idea would be to run them on a guest network but that way, we most likely can't access them via Airplay but have to always choose spotify connect, right?

Thanks !

  • What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
What WPA security modes are you using?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Hi - thanks for the very detailled response - sorry it took me some time to actually sit down and look at it properly. So here are all the answers :-)

I have switched recently to Airplay2 for audio streaming and it is working slightly better - but now there is a delay between the different speakers - so still not a perfect solution. Will try out your recommendations and see if it makes things better.

      Thanks again,

      Armin

PS - see my settings below

      What Firmware is currently loaded?
      2.3.1.48 (just loaded)

What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

Connected to FritzBox 6490 Cable (WLAN disabled) - NG Router is the Orbi RBR40

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
90 sqm = 968,752 SqFt (very thick concrete walls)

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Distance is 10 m = 32 feet - there are 2 walls in between them but also 2 open doors

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.

Yes using Auto on 2.4 Ghz - switched to channel
5 GhZ is on Channel 36

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Yes, there are many 6-7 Wifi (2 of those are public hotspots)

What WPA security modes are you using?
      WPA2-PSK (AES)

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
      BEAMFORMING, MU-MIMO enabled

      WMM was alreday enabled

Try disabling the following and see:
Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s)

      Daisy Chain still enabled

      Fast Roaming disabled

      20/40 Mhz enabled

      IPv6 did not find it
