Glad you have a working system again. Actually, a Factory Reset is not required to flash an image with TFTP or nmrpflash.
My experience has been that every time the router powers up, there is a brief window of time during which the router listens for a TFTP connection. It is only a couple of seconds. One time I failed five times in a row and was searching for a hammer to reduce the Orbi to pieces and thought, "why not try it one more time?" Sixth time a charm. Image flashed and router rebooted with the firmware.
If you enjoy the activity, it might eventually work. Or...... the router could simply be dead.

Reading this I will perhaps try again. If the orange led is not necessary to connect to the Orbi, I will try to "catch" those couple of seconds. Does it matter which Ethernet port to connect to? The yellow labeled Internet port or any other?
