New Orbi firmware 2.1.2.18 update issues?
I noticed that there was a new firmware version 2.1.2.18 for Orbi RBK50. Has anyone installed this version, and has there been any issues after the installation. Please provide any details that you...

So far so good. After updating manually, the satellite reported a "poor" backhaul connection even though it was in the precise same location as before where I got a "good". I rebooted the satellite and the second time worked like a charm. So far so good - but I've been stable and fine since the first 2.1.2 beta. All apples, no google/android.

So this morning I woke up to my Internet not working. I found my Orbi had auto-updated to firmware 2.1.2.18. I use Orbi in Router mode, as my DHCP server. After rebooting my modem & Orbi router, the WiFi came back up and I could connect to the Internet - however my wired devices can't get an IP address from the Orbi and they won't connect to the Internet. I don't know if this is in fact related to the 2.1.2.18 firmware, but the timing does imply these are related. I'm still messing with settings, trying to get my wired devices working again, so far no luck.

I'm having the same issues. I disconnected my switch with all my wired devices, and connected my main computer to the orbi router directly, that seemed to at least let me into the router, everything looks normal and I have internet. Says 2 of the satellites are disconnected, could be rebooting. I am about done with this stupid router. Between their screwup with android and every firmware release these people are incompetent idiots.

it is... mine did the same thing, I never got it to work, I reverted everything back and went into the router in the nvram and stopped it from auto updating.

I'm having the same issue. I was using my wierd connection because wireless keeps dropping. Now the wired connection does not get to the internet. wireless seems to drop more since phone upgrade to android 8.1. Not sure if it is coincidental or if it is tied to the google issue. I need to work from home alot. going to switch to linksys.

Hello MrX911
Do you have any google/android devices on the network? If so they could be the reason for the system rebooting as google has acknowledged a flaw in there devices causing routers to crash. Netgear and google are working on a fix for these issues.

- DabasapApr 04, 2018AspirantAbsolutely horrible experience. I hate this product. My satellite needs to be reset constantly now. Used to be OK. The product is garbage and expensive garbage at that.

and mine has been nothing but rock solid and boring. It just works.

And I think is the main issue, the lack of consistency among users.
As I had posted I use it as an AP (not a router) so I cannot provide feedback on a different mode as I rather use my OpenWRT router.
For me after 2.1.2.18 and then 2.1.3 has worked fine and like you said even boring, a couple of hiccups that I need to figure out the reason, the main reason I use it is to provide consistent wifi through my home without a wired backhaul, and fulfills my needs, but definitely is skinny in features when used as AP, at least after 2.1.2.18 has been reliable which I think is Netgear primary goal at this moment.

Have you tried upgrading to the new Beta?
Also has a factory reset been performened and set up from scratch?
What is the distance between the satellite and router?
How big is your home? SqFt?
If you try the new beta, please do a factory reset on both router and satellite then set up from scratch.

Only been about a day for me here, but perfectly stable.
Have you tried that yet? If you haven't, sounds like you'll need to reset after flashing it. And then manually reconfigure your Orbi.

FYI, v2.1.3.4 is not offical. It's still Beta from what I was told.
