It's a known problem with firmware version 1.12.0.18, unfortunately. Something in the firmware broke the detection of satellites as satellites, so they show up as WiFi clients and their access points are turned off. :-(
I would personally recommend reverting your setup to the 1.11.0.20 firmware.

Well that's a fun way to start day one with this setup ... ugh.
So revert router + satellites? Looks like my satellites are offline again, this is getting annoying.

Yeah. esiebert7625 has some good advice on preventing it from re-updating to the broken firmware on the topic I started here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/A-way-to-disable-auto-update-of-firmware-V1-12-0-18/m-p/1325117#M10471
You should still be able to log into the satellite to manually downgrade its firmware using its IP address as long as you're connected to the Orbi router.

Thanks.
I can't connect to the satellites though. They are 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 and neither replies within a web browser.
