New Orbi Setup Slow on VPN Sites and With Ethernet Connection

I just purchased the Orbi router with 3 satellites.  My internet speed is super fast but I keep getting issues while connected via ethernet directly to the router.  The wifi in the house is great, no issues.  But the computer that is connected directly to the router via ethernet is inconsistent and has issues.  I'm also having really slow and problematic connections issues when logging into my companies VPN.  Any advice?

    1. what Orbi model do you have?

    2. what firmware is on it?

    3. what modem/gateway is the orbi connected to?

    4. Its ONLY when connected to your work vpn? Because many times the vpn is the bottleneck

It is not only VPN. It’s hit or miss. Sometimes great other times terrible. It also seems to do better when not connected to Ethernet and just using Wi-Fi which is counterintuitive. Thank you!

That modem has its own internal router. It causes a double nat.

A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
        1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
        2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
        3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.
