New unit how to check satellite function

I just got a RBK50 and the setup is not as easy as advertised. OK, I did get it working, but how do I check to see ifthe satellitle is working?  I can log on the wifi from several locations, but I think I am on the router, not the satellite. I want to make sure this unit is good whileI am still in my 30 day return period.
