I’ve been having problems w my internet dropping using a modem straight into a orbi w 2 sats... was thinking about trying the nighthawk WiFi modem... if needed can I plug the orbi into the WiFi modem to extend the range?

A Nighthawk does have the same routing and Internet access capabilities and features like an Orbi router.
I'd suggest you investigate in troubleshooting the Modem and the Orbi router, if required with the assistance of the community, your ISP, and the Netgear customer support.
When creating a new thread in the Orbi forum, please provide much more information on the set-up, like the ISP, Modem, connection type, Orbi router model, and issue experiencing.
