"No internet" but working (mostly) - red dot on router - KBK23

Hi

I have an RBK20 with 2 satellites (RBK23 bundle). I've suddenly got patchy internet. The only thing I can think of is I plugged in an ethernet cable (since removed) into the router direct to a pc (to test).

Now, when I connect my devices via wifi they give be below eg
Win10PC - No internet, secured

Android Note 9 - Cant get IP address

Yet the internet is WORKING.

The challenge is Im getting intermittent ethernet AND wifi issues. When I look at the app, the router goes from green dot to red dot every 2-3mins (then might work for some time) then every 2-3mins again. All devices have this issue.

One suspicion is the Router is slightly more reliable with more constant connectivity over wifi. I suspect its affected the back channel. I know it is NOT my ISP because I can watch Netflix wired (router only) the entire time.

I checked for new firmware andI did a factory reset of all 3 ORBI's this morning and set everything up again. No luck. Still getting above

Suggestions?

  • Who is your ISP and what equipment did they provide?
What is the current firmware on your Orbi device?
What device is your Orbi router connected to?

The App has an issue, depending on what firmware you are on, where the router will show a false red dot and then go green, then red, etc. If you are not losing actual internet, it is the issue with the app. I'm hoping Netgear has an app update soon as it is causing users to see what you are seeing and question the reliability of their internet connection.

I forced my setup to do this and then used several streaming devices to continuously stream and never once did the internet drop. However the app continued to show the red dot on the router, then green, then red.
