No more wifi schedule in firmware 1.12.0.18
Hi all, Since the firmware update to 1.12.0.18 the possibility to schedule the wifi signal to turn off is not more available. Previously this could be found in Advanced > Advanced Setup > Wirele...

You'll need to contact NG support. Theres nothing we can do here in the forums to help you.
Good Luck.

Hi Darren
It appears that the Wifi scheduling feature is not a high priority to reintstate and with no clear date as to when this may happen. Considering I purchased the Orbi (in good faith) when this feature was available and advertised as such, I feel that I now have a product that does not do what was promised by Netgear at the time of purchase. With that in mind, can you please provide the information to have this product returned for a full refund so that I can purchase a more suitable product that will serve my purpose.
Regards

I have both my master and slave Orbi on a timer switch. Of course not the frefered sollution, but it works fine.
- Stardust83Aug 10, 2018AspirantI use 3 Orbis & had planned to add a 4th, thus for me buying and managing 3 or even 4 time switches to circumvent a simple software issue (of a functionality that had apparently even existed!) of a system that cost 700 bucks or more just seems ridiculous :-/
But thanks for your input, could work when only using 1 satellite.. - dcreesyAug 21, 2018AspirantI have now switched to the equivalent TP Link that DOES have a Wi-fi scheduler for the same reasons. I have used Netgear for years but this basic omission is serious enough for me to leave Netgear. All my home security cams are wired but need the router on 24 hours, so a timer on the router is simply not an option.
- Stardust83Aug 21, 2018AspirantCould you give me the exact TP model? To me its a major annoyance as well, so i‘m looking for viable alternatives!
Thanks! - dcreesy2Aug 22, 2018Aspirant
This is a useful link to see which models have a wifi scheduler. https://www.tp-link.com/uk/emulators.html
This will allow you to move around the config menus for all the routers.
Then go to the Advanced tab and then Wireless, then look for "- Wireless Schedule".
If you find this menu itt confirms that model has the facility.
I have the the TP Link VR400 that defiantely has the scheduler. It cost me £60 ($77 USD) and it a VDSL Router, meaning I can replace both my ISP modem and router with one device. Works well with BT in the UK.
There are more powerful VR models that also have wifi scheduler.
E.G. VR900 - TP-Link AC1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit VDSL/ADSL Modem Router for Phone Line Connections (BT Infinity, TalkTalk, EE and PlusNet Fibre) 2 USB, 3.0 Ports, UK Plug (Archer VR900 V2)
And no I don't work for TP-Link or any other affiliations. I have been a Netgear fan for decades.
But this function is mandetory for me. I have converted my home to wireless-less, even the 2.4 handsfree Landlines are now wired.
I hope this helps :-)
Dave, in the UK.

Thanks so much for this valuable information, great stuff!

DarrenM or other Netgear Product Management folks, when do you anticipate a Firmware update being released to reintroduce this feature?
I would echo most of the commentary here that find it ridiculous that you removed this useful feature from the product without any real announcement. This capability was a major reason that I purchased your product and continue to be very disappointed with how this has unfolded.

Hello WadeS,
Thank you for reaching out to us. This is on the road map for the engineers and is planned to be added in the future firmware release. At this time, there is no ETA of when.

Hi Christian
Appreciate that your the "meat in the sandwich" here but can you get some sort of committment - even an approximate target date? Your response is consistant with my future plan to fly to Mars!

Christian_R , is there any update on when the wifi scheduling feature will be returning to the Orbi Firmware? Can it at least be returned for systems that are running in Ethernet Backhaul mode?
- AndyMCQApr 14, 2019InitiateJust finished reading this thread and seeing how Netgear doesn't care about their clients: 2 YEARS!! have passed since this thread was started and all we have received from Netgear are unfulfilled promises. I'm Returning my Orbi System this week. Good luck holding on to your clients, netgear.

Indeed, I think Netgear really s..cks. We just had a firmware ubgade, but no possibility to ad a WiFi schedule.
I put my Orbi's on an "intelligent" Home Plug system. This works pretty well.
But i intend to see if other systems, e.g. Devolo do have the possibility of a WiFi schedule.
- RabanePacoApr 14, 2019Guide
To repeat my request once more: I want a schedule to switch my WiFi off during nighttime and switch it on in the morning. Any WiFi modem I have owned had this possiblility. It would be great if the Orbi could be turned on through WOL (Wake On LAN).
As I said I added this possiblity through intelligent sockets, of course except the WOL, but I can turn it on through the old WiFi on my modem; abit of a cludge, I admit.

Is there any update as to if this feature will ever be added back to the Orbi firmware? A lot of people are interested in the ability to turn off the wifi antennaes during the overnight hours to reduce the background radio waves/radiation that the system is emitting.
