Not able to set up the Orbi Router while having ATT Uverse Modem/Router
Hi ,
We got a Orbi AC3000 (RBK50-100NAS) today and we already have ATT Uverse Modem/Royter (5268AC FXN) at home. I would like to have a single Acess point preferrably the Orbi router. How do I make the connections in a simple way?
Also currently after setup when I try to login using the network SSID and password(available on the box), the password is not working. How can this be resolved.
Thanks
Anu B

This is a common situation. The Arris modem/router/WiFi access point is designed to perform many functions: (1) convert the ISP media to ethernet for user devices, (2) act as a router providing IP addresses to user devices that are attached, and (3) provide WiFi service to the home, (4) provide telephone service, and (5) provide television service.
The Orbi can be attached to one of the ethernet ports on the back of the Arris modem. This will create another WiFi network in the home which competes with the Arris WiFi network (not good). The primar recommendation is to (a) disable the Arris WiFi network by turning off the Arris radios, and (b) put the Orbi into Access Point mode so that it does not create a "Double NAT" situation: https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
