One Satellite no longer providing Internet Connection while rest of ORbi Network does
I recently made some modifications to our Orbi network and now one of the satellites is no longer providing an Internet connection although devices connected on that Satellite still appear to be on the local network. I tested with two different laptops - the laptop near the router or the other 2 satelites has internet connectivity. When I move the laptop close to the satellite in question, then the internet connectivity disappears.
Our previous setup: This is at a church with two buid with an Orbi RBR40 router router and two RBS20 satellites in Building B. Our internet connection comes into Building A into a Netgear N600 router. BuidlingA had/has a wired Ethernet network and its own WiFi network separate from the Orbi Network using 10.0.0.x IP addressing. There is an underground ethernet feed from Building A to Building B to provide internet to Building B. Building B also had/has a wired ethernet network that is part of the 10.0.0.x setup. Previously, the Orbi RBR40 router in building B was setup as a second router with 192.168.x.x addressing which meant that any devices connected through the RBR40 would be assigned a 192.168.x.x address. Both of the previous satellites use WiFi backhaul.
Modified Setup: Added a 3rd satellite in building A using ethernet backhaul through the same underground ethernet feed between the buildings with the intent of eventually providing one uniform WiFi network between the buildings. I also changed the OrbiRBR40 router to work as an AP rather than a router so that everything in both buildings has consistent 10.0.0.x addressing provided by the DHCP in the N600 router in Building A. As I made these modification, I made sure all of the units have the same firmware version of V2.5.1.16.
I thought the new setup was all working, but was doing some unrelated testing today and realized I had a problem in Building B. One of the original RBS20 satellites with WiFi Backhaul is not providing internet connectivity as described at the beginning of this post. The second original satellite in Building B with WiFi backhaul is working correctly, as is the RBR40 router in Building B, as is the RBS20 with ethernet backhaul that I added in Building A.
I welcome any suggestions on how to try and resolve. Thanks in advance.
Is Daisy Chain enabled on the RBR?
Swap RBS units around to see if the problem follows or not.
What is the Mfr and model# of the ethernet switch in the configuration?

What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-routerTry going back to the previous configuration to see if the problem resolves.

Turns out that turning off DaisyChain Topology did the trick. Once I changed that, let the router reboot and the satellites resync, then internet was working on all Orbi's again. I had not noticed before it was enabled, but I don't remember it ever having synced that way before. When I checked, the Satellite that was having problems was supposedly synced to one of the other satellites but I don't think it was before, so not sure how it got into that state. In any event, clearing the Daisy Chain topology did the trick.
I am not sure if it was the configuration change or the reboot of the router that fixed the problem, but all is well now. Will be monitoring.

Glad that worked. Enjoy. :smileywink:
