Orbi - weak signal strength and invisible network for one computer
Hello, new to the Netgear community here. Just bought an Orbi with 1 satellite after suffering from weak connection with my old TPLink router with 1 booster. However, I'm still suffering from weak si...

If your old laptop supports 80211.b only, it may not be able to connect if the Orbi is set to 40 MHz channel width in the 2.4 GHz band. I have a device that behaves exactly this way.
On the Orbi, go to Advanced, Wireless Settings, and check "Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence" under "Advanced Wireless Settings (2.4GHz b/g/n)"
That might allow your laptop to connect.

Thanks guys for the replies. We figured out the laptop by running the manual connection wizard on the laptop - for some reason it was just not showing up in the bottom right bar.
Regarding weak network, I've taken a look at the setting just now and coixestence is enabled already.
I'm starting to consider adding a powerline extender to bypass the apparently difficult walls which is making the orbi satellite going 'magneta' when placed around the staircase (in hope of boosting upstairs reception). Wonder if the Orbi Satellite would be able to recognise the wifi being put out by a powerline extender such as those from TP Link? If so, then I could use the TP Link to get a decent signal going around the staircase and the Orbi to boost it further out upstairs.
Thanks!
