Orbi AC3000 RBK50 router as a satellite...BUT

Wanting to add an additional satellite to my orbi mesh system. AC3000 RBK50
I read you can use a 2nd Orbi Router as an access point. I assume that utilizes the additional Ethernet ports on the back. However will this also allow the 2nd router to send out the same WiFi signal as the original router as well like the satellites do?

Thanks in advance!

  • You can keep the same SSID in the additional router, but please note the following:

    1. You need to use other radio channels than those used in the main network, otherwise both systems will interfere with each other.
    2. Devices will need to roam between the two BSSID's which will consume battery. This is exactly the advantage of mesh system over Router/AP system.
