Thanks thats useful. In face of it suggests orbi will auto detect the isp and settings
There's a chance that it will. But even though BT is one of the biggest ISP's around, bigger than many in the USA, Netgear doesn't support it as well as it might. (Don't get me started on IPv6.)
If you haven't tried it, BT's own user forum is better than many. It is stuffed with people who think the Homehub is a wart on the rear end of humanity – try disabling its router or separating 2.4GHz and 5Ghz wifi – so they try to avoid it. I haven't looked for signs of knowledge about Orbi, but there are plenty of technically competent people there. They certainly talk about Netgear kit.
My Orbi is in AP mode, but even there it has a reasonably capable "wizard" system. Even the Orbi app, mine is Android, can handle many things.

I used to use the Orbi with BT with no issue though I can't recall the specific settings. Have a look at the configuration pages of the BT Hub, make a note of the settisgs (the username is normally your bt e-mail address, I think the password setting is left blank i.e. not required) and ditch the home hub in its entirety. The setup Wizard will almost certainly get you up and running.

Good advice. The Android App is another option.
As you say, BT does not need a password for internet access. Just the email as username.
Be warned, Netgear does not, it seems, support BT's IPv6.
- PsallissNov 26, 2018AspirantThanks. What's ipv6?

A new way of handling IP addressing.
If it is new to you, you can ignore it.
