Orbi RB13 and Altice One
I have an Orbi RB13 Dual Band mesh system and am unfortunate enough to have the Altice One all in one modem/router etc combo.
I called into Altice asking if I could have them turn of the wifi signal so that I may use my Orbi and they said they could not do that but that they could "check a box on my account" that said I would be using my own router.
My question is should I be using my orbi in AP or Router mode? Also when I name my Orbi network should it be the same as the one I currently use with my ISP?
PS I notice that my ISP is still active and showing up as an available network witch make sense since they didn't turn off the wifi. What did they actually do then?

Thank you for your reply. There is no way to turn off the wifi through the router of my ISP device. Optimum/Altice is will not turn it off either so I am stuck with this thing putting out a wifi signal. I am wondering if I should then put the orbi on router mode or ap mode.I am still interested in finding the User Manual for this device on line. Can you provide the model number from the product label?
The Altice WiFi has no bearing on the Orbi mode. Orbi can be in router or Access Point (AP) mode and will function either way.
The only potential issue is that there are specific situations which do not function well in a "double NAT" environment (when there are two routers back-to-back): https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT Thousands of Orbi's are in router mode behind ISP routers and the users notice no problem.
The "problem" is having two WiFi networks being broadcast at the same time. (Imagine if soemone had set up their stereo in your living room and you wanted to turn on your own stereo. Would make listening to your music much less convenient.) Sure, you can manually switch the Orbi 2.4G WiFi to a different channel, and hope that the Altice WiFi never changes. But, WTF????
Every other ISP combination device (modem/router/wifi) has a method to disable both the routing function and the wifi function. It just seems strange that this one ISP device cannot.
What has worked for me in the past is to call the tech support line several times. I had an issue with Spectrum that tech support could not resolve. They actually "rolled a truck" and the tech spent six hours at my house replacing cables, swapping devices, etc. before he left in dispair. Then, I called tech support "one more time", and a nice woman said, "oh. this setting on your account isn't right. Can you try it again?" Problem solved. Surely Optimum has more than one tech.

My guess is that tech support made a comment in the customer file and did nothing to the Altice device at all.
And, NO, it is not a good idea to have two WiFi systems with exactly the same SSID/password occupying the same building.
I
s there a specific model number for the Altice One?
I found instructions on how to log into a router from Altice Labs here:
https://www.router-reset.com/howto-login-Altice-Labs-router-and-access-settings
If this is indeed your product, how about logging into the box and looking for a setting to turn off the WiFi?
and also how to put the box into "bridge" or "passthrough" mode.
Sorry to be confused, but searching for "Altice One" did not immediately lead me to anything very specific.
- starlasixxAspirantThank you for your reply. There is no way to turn off the wifi through the router of my ISP all in one router/modem device (it's called a Sagecom BTW), Optimum/Altice will not turn it off either so I am stuck with this thing putting out a wifi signal.
