Orbi (RBK50) with a replaced xfinity gateway

i have an Orbi that is up and running in AP mode with an Xfinity gateway. I want to now change the set up and put the gateway in bridge mode and then use my Orbi in Router mode. -Should I make the change on the gateway to bridge mode and then change the Orbi to router mode? -Should I make the change on the Orbi to router mode first and then make the change on the gateway to bridge mode. -Or is there another suggest path.

  • If you have access to the ISP Modems web page, make the change there first, then connect a wired PC to the RBR and configure the RBR for router mode, apply all settings. A power cycle of the ISP modem and RBR maybe needed as well after the re-config.

Thanks for confirming.  i assume leave all connections as is, or should is disconnect the Orbi from the gateway when performing the change to bridge mode?

      • You can leave them all connected. Be sure you are using the WAN port on the RBR to connect to the ISP modem.
