Orbi RBK50
Hi Netgear community, May I have a moment of your time please, I’m looking at the add ons for RBK50, I’ve noticed the price point differences between the addon and a additional system, my question is...
- Mar 03, 2019To have a “pure” mesh system you can only have one Orbi Router and then a number of Satellites.
You can use the Satellite from the second RBK50 package as a second Satellite added to the first RBK50 package.
An RBR50 Router can’t be used as Satellite, but you can connect it to your network *wired* in AP mode to provide extra coverage but -although that you can use the same SSID in this AP- will not be part of the mesh network.
Please see the following pages for the available ready Orbi packages:

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem leaving it in router mode and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Either all in AP mode to run in conjunction with a ISP provider modem/router or 1 orbi router and 3 in AP mode. Too operate under 1 network name. Is it possible to make Netgear Orbi ISP Modem/Router with 1 Orbi satellite with additional Orbi satellites for purchase.
Thank you for your time Netgear community
