Orbi RBK53v2 + ProSafe GS116Ev2 -> Orbi loses connection

Hi all,

Hoping anyone has seen the same and has a solution.

I just purchased 2 ProSafe GS116eV2 switches and tried to connect them to my existing home network, which has a couple of intel, tp-link and netgear switches, but also the RBK53v2 Mesh system. Because I wanted to use the Orbi RBR50 as main router all the switches are ultimately connected to the RBR50 and only the RBR50 is connected to my cable modem/router (the RBR50 is in AP mode because the cable modem still is the main router)

Now for the weird stuff, whenever i connect one of the prosafe switches, the closest attached Orbi goes berzerk and loses its backhaul connection. Or at least when I connect a prosafe switch in my home-office to the switch of a satellite, it goes magenta (all connected to the satellite switch still work, but no backhaul connection). When I connect a prosafe switch directly or via a chained other switch to the RBR50, I lose my cable router connection (cant ping my default gateway). On disconnect all returns to normal.

I have reset the switches to default, updated the firmware to the latest (of both Orbi and GS116E), used different cat 5e/6 cables, but still the same...

I have no idea what could be causing this. Drives me crazy. Anyone that has seen this, or have a clue as to why this might happen?

  • Problem maybe that the 116s are managed switches. Be sure all IGMP, loopback and any green ethernet features are disabled on the switches.

    Its recommedned to run only same brand and model switch if you need more then one or daisy chained switches. Non managed are preferred.

    Connections with RBR to modem/router should be direct, then with switches should be as follows:

      Thnx a million, FURRYe38

      Didnt fully disable IGMP (IGMP snooping status was enabled by default)

      After disabling, everything is just fine
