ORBI RBR50 - can't connect to router via ethernet or wifi
After a year of working fine, my Orbi Router just stopped working. I can't see the wifi network on any device. I did a factory reset and waited for the blinking amber lights. Still can't connect. It stops with a solid magenta light. I tried connecting via ethernet but can't access orbilogin.com or http://192.168.1.1 or http://10.0.0.1
I spoke with support and they say that since the power light is green that the hardware working. I have no way connect. I figured if I could connect via ethernet I could update firmware and that would fix it but I just can't connect any way possible. I tried pinging the ip as well and can't connect. I have my laptop disconnected from the internet as well.
Is this thing trash?
Thanks
Kevin

It is often useful to verify that the modem and connection to the modem are working. i.e. the ethernet plug may have come loose in the socket.
Since you have a computer with an ethernet jack, you can try unplugging the orbi from the modem and plugging the computer directly into the modem.
There isn't an explanation for a "solid" magenta ring light.

I have the ethernet cable running directly from my Orbi router to the laptop. Can't connect to ORBI.
I'm looking at the light and it is solid magenta for sure. Maybe it is dead.
I know my modem (spectrum) is fine because I have my old router hooked up to it and it is working perfectly.

Thankfully Costco took that Router back and refunded me $340
I found this thread and I figured it was no use trying to get it to work...
About to setup my new EERO. Too bad Netgear wanted to charge me for tech support. I've bought a lot of netgear routers and an arlo system in the past. I'll be considering other brands going forward.
