Orbi RBR50 and RBS50 - satellite is ethernet connected but not talking

I have and RBR50 router setup which is working well. Separately to that, due to the house length and the instability of the Orbi Mesh system around metal surfaces I have an Ethernet connection to the satellite.

Issue is the satellite drops off the connection according to the users and the Orbi App, but is showing as connected on the Router Login.

How to get the Satellite back working with wifi, as i have rebooted from the Internet box right through to the satellite and still no luck.

Thanks

  • I tend to believe the web interface over the 'app'.

Does the web interface show any devices connected to the satellite on the Attached Devices page?

No it doesnt, and following reading the issues from many other users I changed to a spare RBS50 I had and resetup the network. Guessing there is corruption in the FW.

System is still not stable which I find very disappointing. Also cannot connect 2.4GHz systems to it or isolate to a 2.4GHz SSID which is a complete pain.

Were these devices not connected to the Orbi previously?  Every time I mess with a WiFi system, or replace it with a new one, I always set the WiFi SSID/password to be exactly what it was before, and all my devices connect automatically.

Since the start (2016) Netgear's Orbi has never supported having different SSID's for the 2.4G and 5G WiFi.  There was a hack that was discovered to do so, but it quit working years ago.
