ORBI RBR50 and RBS50 Speed issues

So incredibly frustrated at this point having spent 2 days now trying to diagnose a problem with my Orbi System.

Facts:

- Entire house is cabled with Cat5e.  All runs tested and capable of 1GB

- TP-Link GB switch in place with latest firmware

- Tested modem in place.  Consistently achieving about 234 MBS down and 10 MBS up using Ookla

- Orbi sytem (1 base plus 1 satellite) in place and fully updated on firmware.  Did full reset and reconfig 24 hours ago

- All computers and devices on latest software and firmware

- Satellite is connected to modem via ethernet cable

Observed:

 - Wifi bandwidth to base unit from all ios devices is about 234 MBS down

 - Wifi bandwith to satellite from all ios devices is about 95 MBS down

 - Computer desktops (2) to base unit via ethernet is about 95 mbs

I have checked everything throughout the network and all is good.   Why hardwired desktops are limited to 95 mbs is not clear to me at all.  Neither is it clear to me why the hard wired satellite is slow as well.

I am now very suspicious of my Orbi system but can find no clues or answers anywere.   Starting to wonder if it is time to move from Netgear's mesh system.

Any help/advice appreciated!

The IOS devices connecing to satellites could be due to distance and channel interference or maybe you need to forget the networks on the IOS devices and re-connect.

    Also check these settings:

Disable Circle, Armor, Daisy Chaining, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and uncheck 20/40Mhz Coexistence.
    Enable WMM, Implicit BeamForming, Mu-MIMO
Set Short preamble mode. Save settings, reboot Orbi.

First thing that comes to mind on the desktops, that are wired, is either the cable is cat5 or the NIC has limits and may be 100Mbps cards.

Be sure to post over in the Orbi AC forum for your model Orbi:

    Thank you.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ethernet switch in the configuration?

  • Note:

     - Satellite is connected via Ethernet to the base Orbi unit and not the modem as mistakenly said above

    -  Computer network cards are GB capable and have been until this issue appeared.   Drivers are up-to-date and configured correctly.

     - what's odd is that the bandwidth through the satellite WiFi is throttled and bandwidth thru the base modem via Ethernet is throttled.
