Orbi RBR50 or possibly Windows 10 or McAfee - wireless devices unable to see each other

Device/software information

Router: Orbi RBR50, firmware V2.5.1.8

Configuration includes basic wireless and a guest network, but the issue is between devices solely on the regular network.

Devices: (not including model numbers, but can if deemed importan) HP Laptop - Windows 10, Asus Netbook - Windows 10, Brother Printer - Firmware T, 1.2.1

Antivirus software: McAfee Antivirus Plus 16.0 R25 - Attempted with and without this installed, so don't believe related.

Purchased a wireless printer and when trying to setup on wireless connected devices, the wireless devices seem unable to see each other on the same network (not the guest network).  Wireless devices can see out to the Internet, and can see the wired devices on the network, just not the wireless.  Ping to any of the other wireless IPs results in a reply from the local IP indicating destination host unreachable.  Wired devices can ping the wireless, so issue appears to be limted to wireless networked devices.

I don't see an option to enable/disable AP isolation in the Orbi interface.

Wireless devices can see wired devices

Wireless device can't see the printer web page

Did an uninstall of McAfee, as well as earlier attempts with temporarily disabling firewalls, but no change in connection.

Unsure where to look next to troubleshoot

  • In chatting with some networking folks from work, found that the Windows 10 wireless interface has multiple locations to modify settings.  In the Settings -> Network & Internet -> Status (should already be picked by default) -> Change connection properties, the Network profile was set to "Public" instead of "Private", even though in other places the settings were private too.  Rebooted and can see other wireless devices now.
